Smead Jolley (Smead Powell Jolley) was born on January 14, 1902 in Wesson, Arkansas. He made his Major League debut on April 17, 1930 for the Chicago White Sox. In 1930, his rookie year, he hit .313 with 16 home runs and 114 RBI. Jolley played for the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 4 year career.
Most people believe that Smead Jolley's best season was 1930, when he slugged 16 home runs, hit for a .313 average and knocked in 114 runs.
