Born on August 17, 1946 in Roslindale, Massachusetts, Skip Lockwood (Claude Edward Lockwood) played for the Kansas City Athletics, Seattle Pilots, Milwaukee Brewers, California Angels, New York Mets and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 13 year career. Lockwood broke into the bigs on April 23, 1965 with the Kansas City Athletics, and put up a 4.30 ERA in 173.2 innings pitched in 1970, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Skip Lockwood's best season was 1976, when he posted a 2.67 ERA, won 10 games, notched 19 saves and struck out 108 batters.
