Skeeter Webb (James Laverne Webb) was born on November 4, 1909 in Meridian, Mississippi. He made his Major League debut on July 20, 1932 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1939, his rookie year, he hit .264 with 2 home runs and 26 RBI. Webb played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Athletics over the course of his 12 year career.
