The Six Nations is the premier Rugby Tournament in Europe.
It started off as the Home Nations, involving just England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. France were later included, turning the tournament into the Five Nations.
In 2000, Italy joined to make it into the Six Nations.
There are several prizes on offer in the Six Nations:
- Championship - Finishing top of table
- Grand Slam - Winning all matches
- Triple Crown - Winning all matches against British Isles teams (this cannot be won by France or Italy)
- Wooden Spoon - FInishing bottom of table
- Calcutta Cup - The winner of England v Scotland
- Millennium Cup - The winner of England v Ireland
