Silva vs Duckworth

The Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals will face off this morning, in an 11:10 start time. Carlos Silva will get the nod for the Minnesota Twins, and Brandon Duckworth for the Royals.
Brian Duckworth will be starting in his third game this season, for his Kansas City Royals, in today's 11:10 start. Duckworth and Carlos Silva were teammates in 2002 and 2003 with the Philadelphia Phillies. Duckworth was 11-11 with an era around 5.12. Since coming to Kansas City in 2006, Duckworth is 3-8, with an era around 5.62. This season, Duckworth is 2-3, with an era of 2.94. He has played in 18 games for Kansas City this season, with two starts. The last time Duckworth faced Minnesota was on April 25th, at the Metrodome, pitching one inning of relief. Kansas City ended up winning that game 4-3.
Carlos Silva has been very hot as of late. Disregarding his last start against the Cleveland Indians, where they schooled him, Silva has been on his mark all month long. Carlos had pitched 28 innings, allowing 21 hits, five runs, striking out seventeen batters, and walking two. Silva's era was down to 1.60 before the game against the Indians. In his last start, Carlos allowed seven run, six earned, on seven hits, striking out none, while walking two. Silva raised his era from 1.60 to 3.13 for the month of August. If not for the game versus Cleveland, Silva's numbers would have been much more impressive.
The objective for today is for Carlos to realize that his last start was just a blip in the radar screen for the month of August. Carlos knows he can turn it around, as proven with his very strong performances last month. A strong start for Silva today, will only boost his confidence for his next start, and will hopefully keep him rolling for the rest of the season. Silva has had a much improved season from last year, and is even being looked at by other teams, as an addition to their starting rotation.
Silva has made it know, his preference is still here in Minnesota, and always will be. Carlos has even offered the Twins a discount, if they re-sign him. Other rumors have the Philadelphia Phillies looking at him as an option. Silva did play for the Phillies in 2002 and 2003 as a reliever, but since coming to Minnesota, has won the roll as a starter. Regardless of who is looking at him, I see Silva as staying put for the remainder of this season, and hopefully he and his Twins can come to an agreement for a three to four year deal. Silva can be a free agant at season's end.
LETS GO SILVA!!!!! ' '
