Sidney Thornton (Sidney Thornton) was born on September 2, 1954 in New Orleans, Louisiana. After going to high school at Capitol (Baton Rouge, LA), Thornton attended Northwestern State University. Thornton made his professional debut in the NFL in 1977 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers for his entire 6 year career.

Most people believe that 1979 was Sidney Thornton's best year, as he ran for 585 yards, ran in 6 TDs and caught 4 TD passes.
