Sid Gordon (Sidney Gordon) was born on August 13, 1917 in Brooklyn, New York. He made his Major League debut on September 11, 1941 for the New York Giants. In 1943, his rookie year, he hit .251 with 9 home runs and 63 RBI. Gordon played for the New York Giants, Boston Braves, Milwaukee Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 13 year career.

Most people believe that Sid Gordon's best season was 1948, when he slugged 30 home runs, hit for a .299 average and knocked in 107 runs.
