Should Beltran Play in the All-Star Game? I Mean, After All, It Does "Count"

A few callers called up Evan Roberts this morning on WFAN and suggested that even if Carlos Beltran makes the trip to San Francisco for this year's All-Star game, he shouldn't play in it due to his sore quad.
Roberts disagreed with a large amount of the callers, saying that 3 innings of low-impact baseball won't affect the quadricep to an advanced degree, also saying that too many players in the past have lessened the significance of the All-Star game by not playing in it.
I, however, disagree with Roberts in the fact that the Mets have been trying to give Beltran rest over the past few weeks, but really could not due to the depletion of the outfield, be it Endy Chavez, Lastings Milledge or Moises Alou.
The three games off would be great for Beltran in my mind. He's been hitting pretty nicely lately, and we wouldn't want him to ruin it by tweaking anything, would we?
