Shorty Elness (Leland Elness) was born on May 10, 1906. After going to high school at Windom (MN), Elness attended Bradley University. Elness made his professional debut in the NFL in 1929 with the Chicago Bears. He played for the Chicago Bears for his entire 1 year career.
