Sherman Howard (Sherman John Howard) was born on November 28, 1924 in New Orleans, Louisiana. After going to high school at Wendell Phillips (Chicago, IL), Howard attended the University of Iowa and the University of Nevada-Reno. Howard made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1949 with the New York Yankees. He played in the AAFC for 1 year, playing for the New York Yankees the entire time. Howard also played in the NFL for 4 years, playing for the Cleveland Browns and New York Yanks over the course of his 4 year NFL career.
Most people believe that 1950 was Sherman Howard's best year, as he caught 5 TD passes and ran back a kickoff for a touchdown.
