Shelton Robinson (Shelton Derrick Robinson) was born on September 14, 1960 in Goldsboro, North Carolina. After going to high school at Aycock (Pikeville, NC), Robinson attended the University of North Carolina. Robinson made his professional debut in the NFL in 1982 with the Seattle Seahawks. He played for the Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions over the course of his 7 year career.

Most people believe that 1983 was Shelton Robinson's best year, as he recovered 4 opponents fumbles and ran back 2 fumbles for touchdowns.
