Sheffield May Be Back Tomorrow

Vote

The New York Times reports that Gary Sheffield, who has been sidelined with a hand-injury, may the Yankees on Tuesday in Boston. Sheffield will make a a start tonight in Double-A. "I just basically told him it was up to him," manager Joe Torre said. "The only thing we want to do is test his wrist, and we'll live with the fact that he's going to get his timing with us. I just want him to physically test it first and just have him come up here." Apparently, Torre has left it up to Sheffield; if he feels ready after his rehab start, he'll rejoin the big club.

but seriously, where is all of the steriods discussions when it comes to sheffield. it's completely obvious that he used just as much as bonds, yet sheff has completely avoided scrutiny. makes no sense at all - it's not like sheff is a nobody. the guy is a perennial All-Star. what gives?
