Shawon Dunston (Shawon Donnell Dunston) was born on March 21, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York. He made his Major League debut on April 9, 1985 for the Chicago Cubs. In 1985, his rookie year, he hit .260 with 4 home runs and 18 RBI. Dunston played for the Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cleveland Indians, St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets over the course of his 18 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Shawon Dunston's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1986, when he slugged 17 home runs and knocked in 68 runs. However, others believe that it was 1997, when he stole 32 bases, hit for a .300 average and knocked in 57 runs.
