Serie A Season Delayed

9
Vote

The Italian FA has officially confirmed that the 2006-2007 season will begin on September 10th, not the planned August 27th. This was decided upon because of the ongoing match-fixing trials and the possibility of opening up another hearing on more clubs including possibly Reggina, Arezzo and other relatively small clubs. The Serie A season will end on May 27th, 2007. The Italian Serie B is now scheduled to begin on September 9th and end on June 10th. The Coppa Italia will begin on August 19th, the finals being on April 18th and May 9th. The Italian Super Cup will be played on August 26th between Inter Milan, newly crowned champions of last year's Serie A, and Roma, last year's Italian Cup runner-up.

Italian soccer sucks. Paint Drying is more fun to watch than Serie A. And this is coming from a soccer fan.

I would say much much more fun to watch, for the league actually came down to the last game last year, unlike the English Premier League which was clinched months before it ended. And if you're an American soccer fan, IT'S boring, nobody's actually really skilled, they tend to attack straight down the middle of the field, and fluke goals happen all the time. Don't attack my Serie A.

Would you rather watch MLS than Serie A?

I think Italian football isn't boring, it showcases different skills. The Premiership showcases attacking play, strength, physical ability, etc. Whereas Italian Football shows defensive play, and amateur dramatics. Depends on what you prefer to watch. The Premiership is like a 19th century chess match, with gambits, tactics, and full on onsluaghts. Serie A is like a modern chess match, with defense, slow play, and a whole bunch of draws.

One of the sucky things about these comments is that it's very hard to be irreverent. Serie A's fine, I prefer the Premiership though. And I probably wouldn't introduce other people to European soccer with Serie A, since most people have a hard enough time with the lack of goals to begin with.

la liga is better. the prem is better. the dutch league is better. the portugese league is more entertaining. brazil is more skilled - their inter kicks the crap out of yours. the best players in serie a r from france and brazil. as a matter of fact, the only league i would like watching less is the MLS.
