- Rogers Hornsby becomes the first player to hit a pinch hit grandslam in extra innings as his blast gives the Chicago Cubs the win over the Boston Braves, 11-7.

- Mike Lowell made his MLB debut for the New York Yankees. He started the game at third base, batting 6th and went 1-4 in a 5-3 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. His hit was a single off of Kelvim Escobar.
