See Yah Simeon

In a meeting between Tampa Bay Buccaneers management and Simeon Rice, the 32 year old Rice was asked to take a pay cut. Apparently that didn't go over too well with the sack specialist and he refused, prompting the Bucs to release him. Even after a season in which he only recorded 2 sacks in 8 games due to injury, he still is a valuable commodity at DE who prior to last year averaged 13.5 sacks for the Bucs between 2001 and 2005.
Out with the old.
Out with the old.

And in a not so shocking move the Buccaneers signed Simeon Rice's replacement at DE, rookie Gaines Adams, to a 6 year deal. The deal maxes out at $46 million, with $18.56 million guaranteed and promises that Adams will be there at the start of training camp.

With a smile like that it's hard to believe team owner Malcolm Glazer let him go. Speaking of Glazer....guess he needed that extra dough for Man U eh?

Rice ain't finished yet. I would not mind seeing him in a Bears uniform this fall.

I have a very hard time blaming any NFL player for trying to get more money. Their league is by far the most owner-controlled and least player-controlled of all. There is much less money paid out in their contracts than is advertised by their inflated numbers, and players can be released just about any time. Tyrone's right. Rice isn't finished. I wouldn't mind seeing him in Redskins camp.

See, Rice cannot play QB. The Bucs want a roster filled with QB's. Therefore, it was time for Rice to go.

From what I read in a few other reports, it wasn't that the Bucs wanted him to take a pay cut, he failed a physical, and his shoulder is still injured as well. Maybe that might be the reason that hey wanted him to take a pay cut, if they did ask. If he failed a physical, I cannot blame the Bucs for deciding to let him go.

Tyrone is way right about Simeon. Tampa bay is going to be the the worst team next year. I hope Simeon is sighned by a good team like the Colts, the Sehawks, or Bears. Tampa made a big mistake
