Secret To Cardinals Success

The secret to the Arizona Cardinals success is not any big free agent they are able to afford i.e. Edge. Its not the best receiving core in football, the best young quarterback in football, or a very underrated defensive backfield. And it is for sure not Dennis Green. But I will tell you what the answer to the Cardinals problems are! (Besides an offensive line) A winning attitude. Sounds to easy and or simple to be true? Not so fast. There is more to a winning attitude than you may think. Let me start by saying that Dennis Green has never won anywhere. Dont say Minnesota because he never won a big game there. The first thing the Cardinals need to do is bring in a whole new coaching staff. As great as the current coaches may be, they can't teach this team to win. And they need a group who can teach that now, because this is a very young football team. The second thing the Cardinals have to do is change their overall philosophy. No more signing big time skill players or drafting them really high. Start by drafting linebackers and linemen. The D Line is fine for now as there are more pressing needs, and they must bring in at least 1 big time offensive lineman, or two or three solid ones. Finally when bringing in these big players, make sure they have played on winning teams and have winning attitudes. Without a new staff, and a winning attitude, all the pro bowlers in the world won't help this franchise who can't beat a decent team without it.

Denny Green adds legitimacy, but he's not a get you over the hump guy. They're moving in the right direction. Edge was THE first real free agent signing they've EVER had. Name another, I dare you...

None your right. BUT! As they are headed in a good direction they need a new coach to be playoff caliber. And a much better O line

ONE playoff victory since 1947. ONE winning season and ONE .500 season in 18 years in Arizona. The Bidwells need to sell the franchise to someone who cares about winning and not turning a buck! Cheap bastards!

Denny Green is not the reason this team is failing. They need a new Oline and a new defensive line. Edge is only as good as the holes that are opened for him. The Cards have a lot of losing traditions to overcome and they were within 5 mins of doing that.

Y'all don't have any idea what you're talking about. You see one game and think you can 'fix' the team. The o-line isn'tthe problem. How many times was Leinart sacked?

The problem is the owners and the CULTURE of losing games and making $$$. PLEASE try to name ANY co-ordinator EVER for the Cardinals. The offensive play calling was horrible once they got past their scripts. Denny Green was the first legitimate coach they EVER had (and he's not a GREAT coach). The D-Line is fine, the D played GREAT last night, shutting out the 'league's most prolific offense'.

Last night was NOTHING NEW for the Cards. Not this year, not ANY year. Losing is not the tradition here, losing in the most unbelievable ways is the tradition. ONE winning season since they moved to Arizona and only THREE seasons at 7-9 or better. That has NOTHING to do with coaches or players. It's management's fault.

There's enough talent here, but the foundation of the franchise sucks. It starts at the top.

I actually agree with AF1, but I don't think beating the Bears last night changes a losing tradition. There were two other games they should have won this year...

yeah that was me (see me fully agreeing with myself below) And to say they should be 4-2, well... it's just as easy to say they could be 0-6 - they barely beat the Niners

Im agreeing with both of you. Thats why I said that the Cards almost took a big step in the right direction last night. Also Oline isnt just there for pass protection. James 36 carries for 55 yards

blame the O.C. - and two penalties (illegal formation) that brought back 10 yard runs...

I think it is a time for a change in leadership. It's obvious this team has talented players (and I think Leinart's gonna be one hell of an NFL QB, the way he played against the best defense in the NFL), but I don't see this team succeeding under the current regime.

as long as the Bidwells are owners, it doesn't matter WHO coaches. They won't spend money on assistants, coordinators, position coaches, scouts, trainers, anything. The whole stadium deal was done on the cheap as a smokescreen, with alot of public funding so they could turn around and say "See? We're spending money!" They don't care about winning (anything other than Super Bowl & BCS Bowl bids which = MORE MONEY for them!)

They don't care about winning at all. Before the stadium deal, they were going to move to L.A., before the stadium deal was done they weren't going to pay ANYTHING. They made more on bowl deals and naming rights ALREADY than they invested in the dome.

Edgerrin James personally outfitted the locker room with TVs and a sound system.

PLEASE remember, this is an ownership that had their NFL team share a stadium with a second-tier College Football team. Metal bench seats in the Arizona sun... FOR 17 YEARS!!!
