Born on January 11, 1910 in Waco, Texas, Schoolboy Rowe (Lynwood Thomas Rowe) played for the Detroit Tigers, Brooklyn Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his 15 year career. Rowe broke into the bigs on April 15, 1933 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 3.58 ERA in 123.1 innings pitched in 1933, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Schoolboy Rowe's best season was 1934, when he posted a 3.45 ERA, won 24 games and struck out 149 batters.
