(Roc) Every Monday we will pick our nominations for "Sauce of the Weak" from the prior 7 days in sports. What is "Sauce of the Weak" - well its our showcase of the biggest chump in sports that week. Someone who did something cowardly, made a bonehead play, or did something just plain stupid (See also: Pacman Jones, Michael Vick, The Cincinatti Bengals). So why the name "Sauce of the Weak?", well around these parts if you do something "wimpy" or "stupid", your known to have some Weak Sauce. For instance:
if Barron were to say to me "Let's grab a beer after work, Man"
And I were to respond "No can do... I have my Cross Stitch Class"
Barron would say "That, my friend, is weak sauce"
You get the idea.
So without further Adu.. my nomination for Sauce of the Weak Is..
JOE BLANTON
Who is Joe Blanton? Great Question. Joe Blanton is a 6'3, 250 pound Pitcher for the Oakland Athletics. And what did he do to deserve this nomination? Well he bowled over the smallest player on the Mariners (172 lbs, 5'9, and probably the entire MLB for that matter), Ichiro Suzuki, as Ichiro waved home a player from third. Ichiro laughed as he made his way back to the dugout. Nice move bro, your built like a linebacker and you go after a guy that could barely put up a fight against Tinker Bell, AND he then laughed at you. Notice how Richie Sexson was near the whole time, Blanton sure as hell didn't want anything to do with a guy that dwarfed him. For this, Joe Blanton, You are a Sauce of the Weak Nominee.
(Barron) My nomination for the "Sauce of the Weak"...our favorite...Barry Bonds!! Barry...I have a question for you....What is it that you do best??? Is it play left field? NO!! Is it meet and greet the baseball fans? NO!! Is it talk to the media about what a great pure game baseball is?? NO!! Is it hang with your fellow players and soak up the All-Star festivities?? NO!! So what is it that you do soooooo well?? You hit HOME RUNS!!!! And where do you hit these Home Runs?? In the bandbox that San Fran built for YOU to perform in. So the event that was made for you is here...in San Fran...you are the HR champ...could it be scripted any better...YOU, King of the long ball, in the HOME RUN DERBY in YOUR PARK!!!!!! Chris Berman doesn't have enough back back back backs to keep up with you...imagine the canoe's in the bay...it's sooooo perfect!
Oh...what's that...you don't want to get tired? You don't want to ruin your swing? But that is all you do is swing for the fences!!! You have days off before and after the Derby. I can understand the "real" baseball players opting out...they actually try to hit singles most of the time...but you have no excuse.
Here was your chance to show us how it's done and...imagine this...have some FUN!!!!
