Sandy Sandberg (Sigurd E. Sandberg) was born on June 14, 1910 in Eddyville, Iowa. Sandberg attended Iowa Wesleyan College. Sandberg made his professional debut in the NFL in 1934 with the Cincinnati-St. Louis Reds-Gunners. He played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati-St. Louis Reds-Gunners over the course of his 4 year career.
