Sammy Hale

Sammy Hale (Samuel Douglas Hale) was born on September 10, 1896 in Glen Rose, Texas. He made his Major League debut on April 20, 1920 for the Detroit Tigers. In 1923, his rookie year, he hit .288 with 3 home runs and 51 RBI. Hale played for the Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Athletics and St. Louis Browns over the course of his 9 year career.
Most people believe that Sammy Hale's best season was 1927, when he hit for a .313 average and knocked in 81 runs.
