Sammy Baugh (Samuel Adrian Baugh) was born on March 17, 1914 in Temple, Texas. After going to high school at Sweetwater (TX) and Temple (TX), Baugh attended Texas Christian University. Baugh made his professional debut in the NFL in 1937 with the Washington Redskins. He played for the Washington Redskins for his entire 16 year career.

Most people believe that 1947 was Sammy Baugh's best year, as he threw for 2938 yards, tossed 25 TDs, put up a 92 passer rating and had a 43.7 yard punt average.
