Born on December 8, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York, Sam Zoldak (Samuel Walter Zoldak) played for the St. Louis Browns, Cleveland Indians and Philadelphia Athletics over the course of his 9 year career. Zoldak broke into the bigs on May 13, 1944 with the St. Louis Browns, and put up a 3.36 ERA in 69.2 innings pitched in 1945, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Sam Zoldak's best season was 1946, when he posted a 3.43 ERA and struck out 51 batters.
