Sam Young (Frederick Lloyd Young) was born on May 27, 1903 in Austin, Minnesota. Young attended Macalester College and the University of North Dakota. Young made his professional debut in the NFL in 1925 with the Providence Steam Roller. He played for the Providence Steam Roller and Minneapolis Red Jackets over the course of his 5 year career.
