Sam Leslie (Samuel Andrew Leslie) was born on July 26, 1905 in Moss Point, Mississippi. He made his Major League debut on October 6, 1929 for the New York Giants. In 1933, his rookie year, he hit .295 with 8 home runs and 73 RBI. Leslie played for the New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 9 year career.

Most people believe that Sam Leslie's best season was 1934, when he hit for a .332 average and knocked in 102 runs.
