Sam Gibson

Born on August 5, 1899 in King, North Carolina, Sam Gibson (Samuel Braxton Gibson) played for the Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees and New York Giants over the course of his 5 year career. Gibson broke into the bigs on April 19, 1926 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 3.48 ERA in 196.1 innings pitched in 1926, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Sam Gibson's best season was 1926, when he posted a 3.48 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 61 batters.
