Sam Dungan (Samuel Morrison Dungan) was born on July 29, 1866 in Ferndale, California. He made his Major League debut on April 12, 1892 for the Chicago Colts. In 1892, his rookie year, he hit .284 with 0 home runs and 53 RBI. Dungan played for the Chicago Colts, Louisville Colonels, Chicago Orphans and Washington Senators over the course of his 5 year career.
Most people believe that Sam Dungan's best season was 1901, when he hit for a .320 average and knocked in 73 runs.
