Sam Chapman

Sam Chapman (Samuel Blake Chapman) was born on April 11, 1916 in Tiburon, California. He made his Major League debut on May 16, 1938 for the Philadelphia Athletics. In 1938, his rookie year, he hit .259 with 17 home runs and 63 RBI. Chapman played for the Philadelphia Athletics and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 11 year career.
Most people believe that Sam Chapman's best season was 1941, when he slugged 25 home runs, hit for a .322 average and knocked in 106 runs.
