Sam Boyd (Sam B. Boyd) was born on August 12, 1914 in Rockwell, Texas. Boyd attended Baylor University. Boyd made his professional debut in the NFL in 1939 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 2 year career.
Most people believe that 1939 was Sam Boyd's best year.
