Sal Yvars (Salvador Anthony Yvars) was born on February 20, 1924 in New York, New York. He made his Major League debut on September 27, 1947 for the New York Giants. In 1952, his rookie year, he hit .245 with 4 home runs and 18 RBI. Yvars played for the New York Giants and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 8 year career.
