SSreporters and the AFC 2007 NFL Predictions

by SSreporters

AFC West

San Diego Chargers (12-4): This is a tough one, but San Diego still has LT, Phillip Rivers, and Shawne Merriman. They're all good no matter what coach. The one question remains though, how will the WR position pan out for the Chargers?

Denver Broncos (9-7): I'm not so confident that Jay Cutler will succeed this year. They lost Tatum Bell, tragically lost Darrent Williams, this whole team is falling apart. Denver should finish 9-7, but sneak in the playoffs.

Kansas City Chiefs (8-8): Damon Huard is the starter, but their inconsistency on the road may cost them a trip to the playoffs.

Oakland Junior High (3-13): Not a chance in your life.

AFC East

New England Patriots (11-5): There is way too much star power for the Pats not to win this division. However, my instincts tell me that the Pats won't have this mega 16-0 or 15-1 season like these experts are saying they could have.

Miami Dolphins (8-8): I actually like the Dolphins play, especially with their new coach. He should have a decent first year as head coach with Trent Green leading the way.

Buffalo Bills (6-10): Marshawn Lynch was a good pickup, but their lack of a backup QB may hurt them in the near future. Plus, the number 6 will also solidify the number of local TV blackouts they'll have.

New York Jets (4-12): Something tells me that Chad Pennington will get injured or have another bad year. They haven't had 2 successful years in a row for quite some time.

AFC North

Baltimore Ravens (12-4): Steve McNair has proven that he still has what it take to lead his team deep into the playoffs. Willis McGahee is good, but he and Jamal Lewis are too injury prone. WR position is already strong, and Todd Heap is one of the top TE's in the NFL.

Cincinnati Convicted (10-6): They'll bounce back, trust me. Chad Johnson, Carson Palmer, Rudi Johnson, etc. The key to their season will be their pass defense.

Pittsburgh Steelers (8-8): Ben Longname is healthy again, but I think everyone has caught up with the Steelers type of play. No Ken Whisenhunt, no Bill the Chin, less trick plays, they won't make the playoffs. Watch out for Hines Ward, he'll have a breakout year.

Cleveland Browns (5-11): Brady Quinn get 4 starts, throws 6 TD's and 8 INT's. Romeo Crennel gets fired, and loses his 4 burger per day contract with Cleveland.

AFC South

Indianapolis Colts (13-3): No explanation required.

Tennessee Titans (6-10): I believe in the Madden curse.

Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11): They won't do well with 3 injury prone QB's, Jack Del Rio will be let go next year. Fred Taylor will also retire. Break out player will be Maurice Jones-Drew.

Houston Texans (4-12): No explanation required.

It's not Mangini, it's Pennington, he drives the team.

Denver did lose Tatum Bell, and his fumble issues, and replaced him with Travis Henry, who has 3 1200 yard seasons. They lost Darrent Williams, and replaced him with Dre Bly, who will team with Champ Bailey to form one of the best corner tandems in the league.

KC has Brodie Croyle who will probably unseat Huard as starting QB. NO KC WR draft pick since 1984 has had 50 grabs or 700 yards at any point in their career with the Chiefs.

Miami has no WRs, they have no TE, they have two rookies on the O line. They go nowhere fast. Jamal Lewis is no longer in Baltimore, it is McGahee followed by Mike Anderson. Clayton is already out for the rest of the preseason, Derrick Mason is old, and the Ravens lack solid depth at WR.

I agree about Denver...they fixed things quick...plus its the running scheme, not the back (Henry is a one cut runner...he fits real well)

Remember a few years ago when KC had that prolific offense...pretty sure their best WR was someone like Eddie Kennison...baffling...they're real problem is they lost 2 stud O-lineman...Larry Johnson is screwed

Miami is terrible...but they got Ted ginn Jr...(i can't say that with a straight face)

I feel like Baltimore getting McGahee was good...that'll helpt he team more than lewis and anderson is all the power back they need. Clayton is hurt, but playing the preseason doesn't mean anything...their receivers, and todd heap, will get it enough done....

Oh and they have that defense...hmmm...Ravens will be fine

I dunno about Indy winning 13 games...their division is weak, they'll win it...but 13 total wins...i dunno...

I grew up south of Buffalo, and was a fan in the years when Vince Ferragamo was at the end of the rope, Joe Ferguson was past his prime, Jim Kelly went to the USFL, and we had to watch Joe Cribbs and Greg Bell be the starters at RB. Granted, we weren't Tampa Bay in the mid 70s, but back to back 2-14 seasons make you think twice.

Denver must contend with the Curse of Jake Plummer.

Oh wait, Shanahan got rid of him last season.

Never mind.

As far as I know, no one is saying the Pats will go 16-0 or 15-1. They could definitely go 12-4 or 11-5, like you said. They aren't invincible.

Jets will give them fits...they don't have an easy schedule...and i have no idea what the 'chick will do if he's 14-0 with the full bye and home field secured, but i would not be surprised to see him throw in the towel and prepare for the playoffs...

More likely, The pats running game is questionable...I'm not high on their LBs. I know they got thomas...and he's good...but Bruschi hasn't been the same since he stroked out and i just don't like Colvin...

Secondary will have depth issues...but that's also typical for the pats...doesn't seem to bother them...

I'd guess 12-4...and i bet they lose to the dolphins...for some reason they always lose to them once...

They always have trouble with the Dolphins. I remember that Monday Night game where Brady threw 4 picks.

True. Brady isn't invincible, and Moss isn't what he used to be. Athletes DO age, you know.
