SSR NFL Top 10: Lucky Patriots

by SSreporters

I will not be swayed by "Tom Brady did it again, or this, or that" during last night's game. That was 100% Baltimore blowing up right in front of our eyes. Time for the new rankings.

1. New England Patriots. Meh.

2. Dallas Cowboys. The only team I see them losing to in the NFC is either a rematch with Green Bay or Seattle that's it. Very impressive victory Thursday.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers. Willie Parker fumbles 3 times, Roethlisberger gets picked twice......and their defense still held Cincy to 10 points.

4. Indianapolis Colts. Almost gave that game away huh? They have some weapons back, watch out for the Colts come January.

5. Green Bay Packers. John Madden is still crying himself to sleep.

6. Seattle Seahawks. Say what you want about them, their defense has saved their season 2 weeks in a row. They beat Arizona, the NFC West is officially theirs.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jerramy Stevens caught the GW TD pass.....I'm not joking.

8. San Diego Chargers. If they get past the Titans, they're home free with their remaining schedule (Oakland again, Denver again, Lions)

9. Jacksonville Jaguars. Tough loss to take, they were 3 points shy, but they're still a team to reckon with.

10. New York Giants. Eli Manning can breathe again, Giants keep winning ugly.

100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000. Miami Dolphins.

Start the disagreements!

Remember when everyone was calling for Mike Holmgren's firing and Shaun Alexander was the worst running back in the league? Now Seattle's a Super Bowl contender.

I'm not either, not by a long shot. I'm just reacting to what's stated in the article.

Whoa whoa whoa! I'm not even sold on Seattle, I will be if they're capable of winning out. Shaun Alexander still sucks, and Mike Holmgren is still under fire in my book.

Ah so it was just a bit of homer love for them? They should win out if they play the majority of games in their division.

Carolina, offensively challenged, Arizona, inconsistent, Atlanta, offensively challenged, a home game against Baltimore, who have blown multiple games this season to better opponents.

Id say Arizona would be the team to watch out for because they are in the thick of the Wild Card hunt. Carolina is pretty much done as is Atlanta. The Ravens will be too busy snipping at Bilick to try to play a competive game by that time of the season.

That San Fran loss 2 weeks back probably killed their division chances, and it was at home.

I believe the Vikings can win that 6th spot, although the Cards have an easy schedule.

Agreed with the way the Vikings are playing right now, especially with Jackson moving the ball in the air, they are a legit threat to get into the playoffs.

The Jets don't make yout top 10? They were almost 2 point underdogs and beat their rival by more points than any other team this season!!!

Here's the Top 01 Walker's Rants Style

1)NE. They got away with another one but the formula for defeat is laid out now. 2)Dallas: will push the Pats 3)Indy:Parkers fumbles make Pitt shaky to me 4)Pitt:see above 5)Green Bay: they onlyhold this spot if Brett can comeback and play at his previous level 6)Tampa:Im drinking the Kool-aide 7)Jacksonville:They play good D and they are gritty 8)San Diego: the reemergence of LT makes them a threat despite Norv 9)Seatte) they are the head of their division

10)New York they make this list despite ELi

This elusive formula for defeat talk again. What was the secret revealed by Andy Reid and Brian Billick? Rush the passer? Cover Moss? WOW! What geniuses.

It was actually shown by the Cowboys but they only did it for 3 qts then backed off. The Eagles and Pats, blitzed Brady heavily and lrelied on their secondary to just make plays on their own. Most teams I.E. Washington rather play a deep Cover 2 and drop their safeties 40 yards and try to keep the Pats underneth.

100% of the reason the Patriots won was because Baltimore played poorly? So I guess those two big defensive stops the Pats made in the 4th quarter contributed 0% to their win. Yup, 0%, absolutely nothing. For my sake, SSR, could you justify or explain your use of the word "lucky." It's a word I'm not used to seeing in sports.

I dont credit NE with playing well as much as I credit BMore for playing at their normal level. BMore has no ability to move the ball on offense and in the fourth qt in last nights game they proved that once again.

But don't you think the Patriots deserve more than 0% of the credit for winning last night?

No they are who I thought they were. They are a good team, who did not play to their full level of potiential last night. Listen the Pats gets their ass kissed 7 days a week, and frankly they deserve it. When it was all said and done Brady threw a heck of a pass to win the game. However, the Ravens (a team with nothing on the ball) play a much more impressive game in my mind and with the exception of 2 mins 30 secs they outplayed the Pats.

Wanna shot at beating the Patriots? Play your backup QB. And don't throw the ball in the 4th quarter.

I actually think the Backup QB thing is a legitimate point. My guess is it's like Baseball. If you have a would-be average Starting Pitcher down in AAA, you could call him up, and he'll look amazing at first because no one has a scouting report on him. If you're rolling with a different QB than normal who hasn't started this year, the Pats can't game plan against him.

For the first time perhaps this season, Tom Brady appeared frustrated on and off the field.

especially against the Pats who are known for gameplanning against players more than schemes. They beat the Rams in 01 by taking out Faulk. That's BB's philosophy. Mess up their best weapon.

I completely agree with you on that. Totally reminded me of the Cardinals versus Bears a couple years ago.<p?

If I'm Rex Ryan, I'd be sleeping under my desk for the next couple of days.

The other thing that I saw from that moment in the game was we publicly saw the disconnect between the players and coaches in the Baltimore Ravens. To me it was a phenomena to see that.

Ray Lewis is the leader of that team. Ryan and Bilick have lost contorl and their inability to lead or call plays in the fourth only made that riff even bigger

I'm predicting that the Pats 1st loss will come early in the playoffs and all this hoopla will be for nothing.
