SSR NFL Top 10

by SSreporters

1a. New England Patriots. Assuming the Pats beat the Colts, the NFL should spot everyone else 14 free points.

1b. Indianapolis Colts. Slow start to the game, but it's a blowout the rest of the way. Very impressive road wins.

3a. Dallas Cowboys. Off last week, they should beat the hapless Eagles.

3b. Pittsburgh Steelers. When Ben Roethlisberger has a healthy receiving core, he is strong. With the next 2 games against divisional opponents they have routinely pounded, they should be headed for a divisional title.

3c. Green Bay Packers. What a play by Favre, if that was (finally), his last MNF appearance as a player, it's a fitting end. That win to me, makes them one of the elite once more.

3d. New York Giants. That wasn't a good game they had was it? But still, 6-2.

7. Tennessee Titans. This is your under-the-radar team here. Vince Young isn't off the charts as he previously was, but he's improving, and that defense is solid.

8. Jacksonville Jaguars. Quinn Gray won a game. Man walks on moon.

9. Detroit Lions. They are for real, and that's the sign of the apocalypse.

10. San Diego Chargers. Emotional victory for them against a decent Texans team, and now they have a winning record.

45678. Miami Dolphins.

76544. St. Louis Rams.

10.

1) Colts (well, this is what we have been arguing about, and the top 2 slots will be decided this weekend)

2)Pats

3) Chargers (Its taken them a while, but I do think they are the third best team)

4) Steelers

5) Cowboys

6) Packers

7) Giants

8) Titans

9) Jags

10) Detroit** (I won't believe in them until game 17 and they have made the playoffs)

You think the 4-3 Chargers are better than the other 7 teams you mentioned that have a better record? The Chargers are a top 10 team, but they haven't beaten one team with a winning record (Bears, Broncos, Texans, Raiders), while losing to the Chiefs (4-3), Pats (8-0), and the Packers (6-1).

I do. Going into the season I thought they were the 3rd best team in the league and the last few weeks have propelled them there. it is also an indictment of the teams I see at the top. The Cowboys and Packers have really big holes and as much as I think they are playoff teams, I don't see much to convince me they are real threats. Same for the Giants who won a very lackluster game against the Dolphins. If you were to say to me shouldn't the Steelers be 3 and the Chargers 4 I would listen.

Against the 3-5 Texans and the 2-6 Raiders?

Its not just the record. its the fact that they have been running the ball well and added Chambers who I think is going to improve their offense.

They do seem quite impressive. Chambers was the only SD wideout with a catch on Sunday.

MJD cannot bear to put the Patriots on top no matter what... everyone is saying 1a and 1b, but no, not for MJD...

Whatever you wan't to call it. My basic point is the same. The Colts are the defending champs and are undefeated. Until they lose, why shouldn't they be #1. As I have said all along, the clear #1 will be determined this week. No need to give negatives just because you disagree with my list. It is juvenile.

The chargers are back, and if the pats beat the colts, spotting the other teams 14 still won't help them cover the spread vs the Pats.  ;) The winner of that game is expected to go 16-0. That is nuts!

Nobody's ever /expected/ to go 16-0. Not with the way that playoff teams rest their studs in the last two or three weeks of the season.

if the pats win, they'd be expected to. BB is that kind of coach to risk starters to prove people wrong. Dungy is wiser about his players resting, and we'd see 05 play out again where Peyton hold's the clipboard in week 15

but, I'd say if Dungy wanted the record, and they beat the Pats, they could go 16-0

'05? How did that resting of the players go again? You can't just sit people, you have to play them the first quarter like an exhibition game. The Pats have shown 1 quarter is enough to win.

There we go. This is dependent on Stephen Jackson, granted.

I don't trust the AGM user rankings anymore, because there's way too much inertia involved without a wipe every week. Here are ESPN's:
  1. Pats
  2. Colts
  3. Cowboys
  4. Packers
  5. Giants
  6. Steelers
  7. Chargers
  8. Jags
  9. Titans
  10. Lions

By the way, if the Patriots are the Pats, and the Jaguars are the Jags, why aren't the Titans the Tits?

jags and Pats are too long for their preference, just like the Chargers are the Bolts. I get that's a joke, but it's a semi-legit question.
