[edit] BiographyAcquired: Signed as a free agent 2005. 2006: A year of transition for the second-year Lion as he moved from his halfback position to the D’s nickel package for all 18 regular season games. A steady and consistent performer, Ryan racked up 23 defensive tackles, five special teams stops, two interceptions (one for a 23-yard TD), two fumble recoveries and 3 pass knockdowns. He added the club’s only interception in the West Championship and chipped in three tackles in the Grey Cup. 2005: Started all 18 games as a rookie for the Lions at defensive halfback ranking third on the team with 56 defensive tackles. Tied for third on the Lions with 3 interceptions. His fine play as a rookie was recognized by the CFL as he received the Defensive Player of the Month Award for August. College: 2004: Named to First Team All-Big Sky Conference. Had 16 kick returns for 330 yards and an average of 20.6. 2003: 11 rushes for 85 yards and an average of 7.7, 3 receptions for 17 yards. Personal: Having completed his degree in secondary education (History major – Physical Education minor) in March 2006, Ryan spent the off season as a substitute teacher. Ryan’s mother, Sherryl is also a teacher in the Seattle School District. Ryan is also arguably the team’s best dancer.
