[edit] Biography

Born on March 5, 1973 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Ryan Franklin (Ryan Ray Franklin) played for the Seattle Mariners, Philadelphia Phillies and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 7 year career. Franklin broke into the bigs on May 15, 1999 with the Seattle Mariners, and put up a 3.56 ERA in 78.1 innings pitched in 2001, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Ryan Franklin's best season was 2003, when he posted a 3.57 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 99 batters.

On August 2, 2005, Franklin was suspended for ten games for violation of Major League Baseball's steroid policy. [1]

Franklin was also one of the players named by former Mets clubhouse attendent Kirk Radomski in the Mitchell Report. Radomski claimed that he was referred to Franklin by teammate Ron Villone, and that Franklin requested (and received) Anvar and Deca-Durabolin. Franklin has denied these allegations and maintains that his 2005 positive test was a result of a laboratory testing mishap.
