[edit] Biography
Ryan Day is a Welsh professional snooker player. He is ranked 33rd in the world for the 2005/2006 snooker season, but the absence of Quinten Hann has given him top 32 status for many tournaments. He has reached the top 16 of two tournaments - the World Championship and Welsh Open. At the Crucible he beat Joe Perry in the first round and led Ronnie O'Sullivan 9-7 in the second round before losing 13-10.
The previous year, he had reached the quarter-finals of his home tournament, defeating Allister Carter and Steve Davis along the way. 2006 is the second time he has qualified for the World Snooker Championship - he lead John Higgins 9-7 in the first round in 2004, but lost the last 3 frames. As some consolation, John commented that Ryan is "going to be a top player for many years to come". Qualifying for the 2001 Masters, and beating Dave Harold in the preliminary round, is perhaps the other highlight of his career to date.
