Russell Carter (Russell Edmonds Carter, Jr.) was born on February 10, 1962 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at Lower Merion (Ardmore, PA), Carter attended Southern Methodist University. Carter made his professional debut in the NFL in 1984 with the New York Jets. He played for the New York Jets and Los Angeles Raiders over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that 1984 was Russell Carter's best year, as he picked off 4 passes.
