Russ Thompson (Russell J. Thompson) was born on May 10, 1912 in Whitney, Nebraska. Thompson attended Chadron State College and the University of Nebraska. Thompson made his professional debut in the NFL in 1936 with the Chicago Bears. He played for the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles over the course of his 5 year career.
