Russ Thomas (John Russell Thomas) was born on July 24, 1924 in Griffithsville, West Virginia. After going to high school at Charleston (WV), Thomas attended Ohio State University. Thomas made his professional debut in the NFL in 1946 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the Detroit Lions for his entire 4 year career.
Most people believe that 1946 was Russ Thomas's best year.
