Born on November 28, 1918 in Tilton, Illinois, Russ Meers (Russell Harlan Meers) played for the Chicago Cubs for his entire 3 year career. Meers broke into the bigs on September 28, 1941 with the Chicago Cubs, and put up a 4.48 ERA in 64.1 innings pitched in 1947, his rookie year.
