Russ Lay (Russell M. Lay) was born on January 11, 1907 in Williamston, Michigan. After going to high school at Williamston (MI), Lay attended Michigan State University. Lay made his professional debut in the NFL in 1934 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the Detroit Lions for his entire 1 year career.
