Russ Anderson will always be remembered by Penguins fans as a tough no-nonsense defenseman. He proved this point in a January 19, 1980 game against the Edmonton Oilers. In that game Anderson received 9 penalties for a total of 51 minutes. Anderson fought Mark Messier in the first period and Dave Lumley in the second period. On top of that he also received a double-minor. He then became involved in a bench clearing brawl at the 13:34 mark of the second period where he received another major and a double game misconduct.
