"The New York Post reports that rumors around the Yankees trading for Alfonso Soriano are bound to happen now that the team lost Hideki Matsui (wrist) for three months"

I do not want to see the strikeout machine (especially in the playoffs) back in pinstripes.

don't you think its a little ridiculous that they will get a 10 million+ player to fill in a 3-month injury.

Not anymore ridiculous than paying Roger Clemens 12 mil for 4 months.

What are they going to do when Matsui comes back? Platoon Damon, Sheff, Matsui, Cano, and Soriano?

Was that a "Which one of these doesn't belong?" question, because it could probably work much like that.

Matsui won't be back until at least late August. You'd have six guys for five spots (including Bernie), which isn't bad.

Yet another chapter in the Yankees' quest to simultaneously hold the rights to every overrated, overpaid (and preferably playing out of position) player in baseball. Why not trade for Adrian Beltre, convert him to the OF, and just get it over with?

The problem they have is that no team will want to pull the trigger on a trade for a Yankee-worthy player until at least mid-June, in all likelihood. So they've got to limp along with guys like Melky. What happened to that great Yankees depth? Nicely done, George. ;-)

Soriano would be good - he has proven versatlity. He could field anywhere, so could fill in in the infield or outfield. We could then improve the pitching side of things, by trading one of our "star" outfielders.
