Born on May 22, 1980 in Barahona, Barahona (Dominican Republic), Ruddy Lugo (Ruddy Joraider Lugo) played for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for his entire 2 year career. Lugo broke into the bigs on April 3, 2006 with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and put up a 3.81 ERA in 85 innings pitched in 2006, his rookie year.

Lugo is the younger brother of shortstop Julio Lugo. Lugo was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 3rd round of the 1999 amateur baseball draft. He was signed by the Devil Rays during spring training of 2005. He then started the season with the Class A Visalia Oaks and finished it with the double A Montgomery Biscuits. In 2006 he was finally called up to the Devil Rays and made his debut on April 3 against the Baltimore Orioles.

He was claimed off waivers by the A's on June 14, 2007.
