Born on March 19, 1891 in Kamenka, Russia, Rube Schauer (Alexander John Schauer) played for the New York Giants and Philadelphia Athletics over the course of his 5 year career. Schauer broke into the bigs on August 27, 1913 with the New York Giants, and put up a 3.50 ERA in 105.1 innings pitched in 1915, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Rube Schauer's best season was 1917, when he posted a 3.14 ERA and struck out 62 batters.
