Rube Leisk (Charles Wardell Leisk) was born on July 12, 1915 in Shreveport, Louisiana. After going to high school at C.E. Byrd (Shreveport, LA), Leisk attended Louisiana State University. Leisk made his professional debut in the NFL in 1937 with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers for his entire 1 year career.
