Born on February 20, 1928 in Stephentown, New York, Roy Face (Elroy Leon Face) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Detroit Tigers and Montreal Expos over the course of his 16 year career. Face broke into the bigs on April 16, 1953 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 6.58 ERA in 119 innings pitched in 1953, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Roy Face's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1962, when he posted a 1.88 ERA and notched 28 saves. However, others believe that it was 1959, when he posted a 2.70 ERA, won 18 games, notched 10 saves and struck out 69 batters.
