The 13th General Manager of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Roy Shivers, was released from his contract today. Roy leaves the team with a record of 52-64-1, over his 7-year stint in the position.
According to the President/CEO of the Roughriders, Jim Hopson, the team needs to plan for the future without Shivers. "Moving forward we felt this was the best decision for this organization. We will be making an announcement later this week on a new General Manager," Hopson was quoted as saying.
Shivers had the third longest tenure as the Roughriders GM. He trailed Ken Preston's 21 years and Al Ford's 11 years.
