[edit] Biography

Born on March 15, 1898 in Worcester, Massachusetts, Rosy Ryan (Wilfred Patrick Dolan Ryan) played for the New York Giants, Boston Braves, New York Yankees and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 10 year career. Ryan broke into the bigs on September 7, 1919 with the New York Giants, and put up a 3.73 ERA in 147.1 innings pitched in 1921, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Rosy Ryan's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1922, when he posted a 3.01 ERA, won 17 games and struck out 75 batters. However, others believe that it was 1923, when he posted a 3.49 ERA, won 16 games and struck out 58 batters.
