College/Personal:

McClendon is a graduate of the University of Mississippi. A double-threat as both a running back and kick returner at the University of Mississippi, McClendon racked up 709 yards on 151 carries and 706 yards on 33 returns. Before transferring to Ole Miss, Ron played two seasons at Butler County Community College in Kansas. He was a SuperPrep All-America player at Ponchatoula High in 1999 when that national publication rated him as the nation's 16th best running back. Ron also competed in track and was the state 100-meter and 200-meter champion his junior and senior years. In the off-season, Ron works for the Eskimo sales department. He does a great deal of work in the local community and is a member of the Eskimo basketball team.

Notable: Ron’s girlfriend is golfer Jade Polonich, whose father is former Detroit Red Wings captain Dennis Polonich.

2004

McClendon signed as an undrafted free-agent with the Tennessee Titans in 2004 and was a late cut from training camp. Joined the Eskimos in September 2004 and spent the remainder of the season on the practice roster.

2005

McClendon was impressive during his nine regular season starts, earning 816 combined yards. He rushed for 346 yards in 65 carries and three touchdowns. He also caught 47 passes for 349 yards and three more TDs. McClendon celebrated his first CFL touchdown in his first game vs. Montreal on July 8. In Week 13, ‘Goldie’ rushed for two touchdowns at home against BC.

2006

McClendon played in the final two games of the season, recording 38 rushes for 243 yards and two touchdowns. He also added seven receptions for 45 yards. On October 21 in Montreal, Goldie was named the Offensive Player of the Week when he rushed for 198 on 25 carries and one touchdown. It was the second best rushing performance in Eskimo history. It was also the most rushing yards in a CFL game in 2006.

2007

McClendon played in six games (five starts) for the Esks. He suffered a hamstring injury during training camp which left him off the roster for the first two games. He recorded 40 carries for 170 yards and 29 catches for 219 yards. On August 11 against Hamilton, Goldie led the team in pass receiving with nine receptions for 71 yards.
